You know the buzz word „VUCA“: Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity.
In other words: Our business environment has changed dramatically and, hence our leadership style has to follow accordingly.
Most ‘old school’ managers are used to annual planning rounds resulting in 5 year business plans including detailed breakdowns of travel expenses and so on: Such deterministic approaches look like dinosaurs in a disruptive VUCA-world.
What should leaders do instead?
Their main objective should be to create a responsive culture in a learning organization. Whilst being persistent towards goals they actively listen, be patient and allow failures which represent the best learning opportunities.
So the new “ VUCA“ stands for Vision, Understanding, Courage and Adaptability – stay healthy and confident … 🙂
