Especially in “either or” situations, it is often difficult for us to make a decision – but not making a decision usually leads to frustration.

One way out of this dilemma is a little trick, the so-called “tetralemma” – here is a little example from my business coaching practice: To the dilemma “Should I change jobs or not” (i.e. A or B) we just added “Both A and B” (C) as well „Neither A nor B“ (D) as additional options.

This opened up 4 (A, B, C and D) options for action instead of just 2, whereby option C could mean that although you are not changing jobs now, you still consider external offers.

Instead of narrowing down to two opposites, it was suddenly possible to “think outside the box”, which in this example may even lead to something else (option D) – stay healthy and confident … 🙂
