A client recently asked me for support in communicating, be it in one-on-one or team meetings.

“Apparently I don’t always hit the right note or don’t hear the nuances,” he told me. The result: unexpected, sometimes emotional counter-reactions instead of the wanted support.

What “counter-recipe” is there here? Well, the “4-ears” model from last week is a step in the right direction, as every piece of news has at least 4 different interpretations.

In addition, the right mix of “advocating” vs. “inquiring” helps: Even the simple question “Does it suit you now?” before your actual question expresses your appreciation of the other person thus opening doors: Try it out yourself!

Will touch in the difference been managers and leaders next week – stay healthy and confident … 🙂
